Using tags & the new filtering feature

MioWorks.com allows you to add tags to your contacts.  Tags are a rather simple concept that have a powerful implementation when used in conjunction with contact management. It allows you to quickly group people together based upon completely arbitrary reasons. This is important because it puts the power of organizing and sorting contacts in your hands, not the hands of an IT department or consultant.

According to Wikipedia a tag is a non hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information. It helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.

In MioWorks we allow you to add tags to contacts that will help you to identify specific groups, subsets or temporary conditions associated to those you are working with.  For example you can add the tag Binford5000 to any contact that was remotely interested in this product.  You now have an instant way to filter your hundreds or thousands of contacts without needing to write a query or ask the IT guy for help.

MioWorks gives you two ways to filter your contacts by tag – you can click on a tag in the tag cloud or you a tag in the filter box.   Either way, the results you see will match up to your tag.

Now what is a tag cloud you ask.  This is an ingenious way that you can tell what the most used tags are in your environment.  The more a tag is used the larger it appears in the group of words.  Once you have a collection of tags and use them often you’ll see how the tag cloud changes.

So go ahead and tag away.  Every time you pull up a contact record,  give them a few words that better describe your relationship with them or the products & services they utilize.
